The grips are comfortable, the brake levers work fine with the Tektro rim brakes and the display console and thumb throttle are easy to reach and use. There’s not a lot of choice here, you just turn the console on with a 0/1 toggle switch and either begin pedaling or push down on the giant paddle trigger. This makes the bike easy to use for just about anyone and reduces distractions when riding. If you want to know how fast you’re going you will need to add an aftermarket LCD display as seen on the bike in this review and that could cost ~$25. I like that they included a bell with the bike and would love to have also had some lights for safety. Considering the relatively low price point aftermarket lights are something that could be added easily later on.

Foot down geometry lets you put your foot down without getting off the seat, all while supporting proper leg extension when you ride. No owners manual so this video has helped a lot with the battery removal trick etc (since my only other experience is a Raleigh retro eglide). It’s easy to see the affordable quality when you see a Schwinn. The battery fits inside the bottom tube of the bike which gives it a sleek look.

Basically, the bike turns on once you hold down the power button for a few seconds and the key is meant to release the battery for easier charging — not for ignition. Schwinn are now in their second generation of ebikes with the Marshall, Coston CE and DX. Most ebikes just have a big battery hanging off the bottom tube. The middle power/enter button turns the bike on while holding it. The battery has to be on before turning the bike on which got me the first time I tried.

This will release the latch, allowing you to lift it up and open the seat compartment. If you leave the battery in the bike, there is a rubber port cover you need to move before plugging in the bike. This helps keep the battery dry if you get caught out in the rain.

This is a class 1/class 2 e-bike in that it can be a pedal-assist bike up to 20 mph or you can use a dedicated throttle lever without pedaling. You will want to check your local regulations to find out what is legal in your area. Most places are fine with class 1 e-bikes, but different municipalities have different rules pertaining to class 2 and above. There are five speeds you can adjust via the bike's thumb pad controller located on the left handle.
